Go skating
Kids love to skate and in Austin and there are some great places where you can go skating as a family. The Playland Skate Center was opened in 1973 and it’s one of the best places to go roller skating. No worries if you don’t know how to skate, there are guides who can teach you and your kids. Some find enjoyment seeing the grownups struggle to balance as their kids float around them like the wind. This is the largest skate center in Austin and it has a fog machine, sound system and also features a light show.
Catch Air
If you want to stay out of the elements for the day, it’s not a problem. Austin has a lot of nice outdoor destinations, but if you’re looking for an indoor facility, there is no shortage. One of the best indoor play centers in Austin is Catch Air. It’s filled with safe and adventurous games such as bounce houses, wacky slides, ball pits and more. they also have a light-up dance floor and a soft play area for toddlers as well.
Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms
If you are new to the area and you’re not sure where to start, this is a good place. You can get a good introduction to Austin by going to the Jourdan-Bachman Pioneer Farms and you get to learn about Texas in a fun and interactive way. The place also has a petting zoo where you and the kids get to learn more about horses and also pet them. If you don’t make it here during one of the events that periodically takes place, you can always enjoy the themed historic areas at the farm.
